About Bone Compass and REMS Bone Scans

What is REMS?

A REMS scan, or Radiofrequency Echographic Multi-Spectrometry scan, is a non-invasive, radiation-free method to assess bone health. It uses advanced ultrasound technology to measure bone density and quality, providing accurate and detailed insights without exposing patients to radiation. This makes it suitable for frequent monitoring and is particularly useful for individuals with conditions affecting bone health.

SUPPORT YOUR BONE HEALTH

Build Stronger Bones Through Daily Movement

Take your bone health journey into your own hands — not just by monitoring, but by strengthening. Bone Compass uses cutting-edge, radiation-free REMS technology to give you highly accurate bone density and strength insights.

Pair that with a weighted vest (like the Rukvest) to add safe, consistent mechanical load to everyday movement. Studies show that wearing a vest during walking or resistance exercise can stimulate bone-building by applying gentle stress to your skeleton.

By combining regular bone scans with purposeful, weight-bearing activity, you build a feedback loop: you learn how your bones respond, and then support them through simple, effective habits. It’s a holistic, data-driven way to improve bone strength — a core value of Bone Compass’s mission.

We have multiple scanning locations in VIC, NSW & QLD. We’re always expanding as well – click here to find your nearest clinic.

The days and times vary between the clinics. Please click on Book a Scan and select clinics closest to you.  If you are interstate and travelling to Melbourne for other reasons, we can on some occasions make a clinic time available in our Cheltenham Clinic. Please contact us directly.

We are trying and we certainly hope to have more clinics available nationally in the coming months. Please Register Interest here and nominate the location you live in and as soon as we have a clinic nearby, we will inform you.  If you are a potential Bone Compass Partner, please review of page on Partnerships and contact us.

We accept online bookings on our website. Our full availability can be found by heading to our booking page here. Bookings can be made 12 weeks in advance.

Alternatively you may either phone or e-mail us, however there may be a delay in response as we have a small team operating various support programs.

We would appreciate a doctor’s referral (stating BMD analysis via REMS) however it is not necessary. However, the findings do represent a clinical report and must be sent to your doctor for review upon completion of the scan.

Once a booking is made please enter your GP/Specialist details on your New Patient Form correctly and especially the clinic e-mail address, otherwise reports may be delayed in getting to your managing clinician.

Global Network

Bone Compass is proud to align ourselves with like-minded clinically focused REMS providers around the world.

We collaborate on this new and emerging technology to ensure that the highest level of REMS expertise and bone densitometry standards are met so that REMS has a unique place in advancing the management of bone health.

I had the pleasure of having a bone scan in December 2025. The lovely lady, Jo, was very friendly and informative. The scan was done quite quickly but afterwards she went through the scans and explained the results very clearly. I felt very comfortable and relaxed. She was very personable and the experience was much better than previous scans I have had done on the Gold Coast. It was well worth the trip to Brisbane on the train. Jo even assisted me with directions from the Roma Street Station!. Thank you for a great service and I will be back when I am due for another scan.    Kind Regards,
Jo G
“The bone scan was a very quick and painless way to get a snapshot of my bone health.  The operator was professional and friendly and I really appreciated getting my results immediately and well explained with the option to ask questions for clarification.  I was completely happy with the entire process.”
Chris
"If anyone is in doubt, I would recommend getting a REMS scan done for your own peace of mind and future treatment plan. REMS is a great way to get a second opinion on your bone health and a far more accurate way to assess your fracture risk than DEXA.  I am so pleased this technology is now available here in Australia."
